slow living escape in the heart of morocco

Quite mornings awaken by the sound of birds humming along with the call to prayer, the hazy crimson sky turns ochre pink to welcome the day. The smell of freshly baked bread rising the senses and the first sip of sweet mint tea makes the morning even sweeter.

Overlooking the snow capped mountains and rows of lush green olive trees, feeling content with mother nature and the present moment. Wandering through the orange blossom and medicinal herb fields picking all the local produce for tonights feast that awaits. Finding bliss in the simplicity of the slow day, journaling and soft sun salutations to bless the day.

Doesn't that sound enchanting? Morocco is always known for the hustle and bustle of their city streets and chaos in the medina that makes it so interesting and lively but there is another side to morocco that is filled with simplicity, calmness and relaxation. For us locals we know that you Morocco is for its slow pace, easy living and incredible landscapes.

When I want to getaway from the city, I find myself packing a bag and hopping into a taxi, all directions must lead to the mountains or the valley only an hour from Marrakech -  that's where I find true bliss.

Here are a few of my recommendations for a Moroccan Slow Escape to achieve the ultimate revived feeling:

  • Kasbah Bab Ourika
  • Berber Lodge
  • Kasbah Angour
